Athona Recruitment have an excellent permanent job opportunity for a General Adult Specialty Doctor to work for the NHS based in the North West. This is a full-time 10 PA's role - 24 bedded acute ward.

Salary: £52,530 - £82,400 Per annum

Position: General Adult Specialty Doctor

Hours: Full time - 10 PA's per week

Setting: 24 bedded acute ward. Support - Full Time Consultants & MDT

Location: North West

For this role, you will be responsible for:

Duties will consist of assessing patients admitted to a 24-bedded ward and where appropriate initiating treatment. The appointed doctor will be expected to ward round with the team, conduct physical health examination and monitoring of the patients on the ward. They will be expected to monitor the treatment plans as outlined by the MDT and report to the ward consultant.

The length of stay can vary from 24 hours to as much as 3 months. The average bed occupancy rate is 100%. There is an average of 10 admissions and 5 discharges a week and a total of 5-10 formal patients at any given time. Communication will be established with the appropriate Consultant/General Practitioner and advice & support sought as needed. There will be a contribution to be made in terms of leadership and support of development of the service. The Inpatient consultant will be Responsible Medical Officer for patients. Cross cover for periods of leave/study will be with agreement with other junior doctors in the department.

For this role, we're looking for someone who is:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Working extensively in multi-disciplinary teams in general adult psychiatry at basic trainee level.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent recognized by Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
  • Experience of assessing and managing clinical risk
