Overview
Our client, who owns a private country estate near Shaftesbury, seeks a proactive and hardworking individual to work under their Head Gardener.
Responsibilities of the Gardener will include all areas of gardening such as lawn mowing and maintenance, weeding, seasonal pruning of shrubs, plants and hedges, strimming, and hedge trimming, planting, and leaf clearance.
Occasional assistance to the wider estate team may also be required.
Job duties Responsibilities of the Gardener near Shaftesbury, Dorset, include: Maintain and care for lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas, ensuring they are kept in pristine condition
Plant, prune, and cultivate a variety of flowers, trees, shrubs, and hedges
Manage and maintain vegetable gardens, including planting, watering, and harvesting produce
Operate and maintain gardening equipment and machinery, such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems
Monitor and control pests and diseases, using organic or chemical methods as appropriate
Plan and implement seasonal garden projects and redesigns
Ensure pathways, driveways, and outdoor living spaces are clean, safe, and well-kept
Coordinate with estate staff for event setups and special projects
Manage composting systems and soil health to promote sustainable practices
Candidates must be/have: Reliable, conscientious, and hard working
Happy to work under / take direction from a Head Gardener
Part of a small team, but capable of spending some time working alone and shows initiative
Full clean driving licence
Happy to work outside in all weathers
Hours Monday Friday, 08:00 16:30, with occasional weekend during busy periods.
