Our client, a major operator based in Aberdeen has a requirement for a Fluids Superintendent on a PAYE / Agency Worker contract. The role will be based in Aberdeen and offers hybrid working.

ROLE

A high priority requirement to support ongoing projects within our technical services team. The post holder will be responsible for managing the overall fluids strategy and activities within the overall context of the D&W drilling programme for all UK operated assets whilst ensuring that safety and commercial performance are optimised.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with Drilling and Fluids Engineering Staff in the well design and in preparation of the well operations;
  • Work with drilling superintendent during drilling operations to ensure the needs of the project are being met with the fluids in use;
  • Coordinate with fluid vendors in such areas as well planning, fluids programs, operations, and logistics;
  • Provide on-site technical assistance when needed;
  • Ensure availability & fitness of all products, equipment and personnel in a timely manner for fluids support of the drilling operations;
  • Ensure correct invoicing, cost evaluation and update accordingly invoice database;
  • Ensure good and safe service delivery by vendors and correct reporting; Lead contractor personnel offshore;
  • Manage daily operational drilling fluids, cement, waste management operations in accordance with company standards & local Laws;
  • Prepare the Well Fluid & Cement program and Well discharge treatment strategy and ensure a close follow up of operations;
  • Conduct technical and operational syntheses & analysis and write up any necessary operating procedures;
  • Contribute to improving skills and know-how, capturing lessons learnt.
  • Check and approve daily drilling & logistic operations programs, procedures and daily reporting & debriefings;
  • Promote the use of new technology
  • Manage the support from Fluid contractors as per company Standards;
  • Participate to the issuing of State of the Art document, Well Programs, End of well reports, optimization procedures;
  • Assist in the preparation of PON 15B permits in accordance with existing UK Environmental Regulations.
  • Up keeping of chemical discharge and usage records and variations required during drilling operations.
  • Prepare a final recap on PON 15B usage after finalising drilling operation per individual wells.
  • Liaise with SEV/ENV in issues related to chemical usage and discharges and substitution of chemicals for greener products

Daily


  • Review daily operational reports to ensure compliance with programme’s prerogatives and accuracy of information
  • Participate in daily conference calls for designated operational units and provide technical support when needed.
  • Provide assistance to Drilling Superintendant in issues related with drilling fluids, cement and solids control.
  • Up keeping of records in appropriate computer folder and hardcopies
  • Liaise with external contractors representatives for discussions of current operations and planning of immediate operations and ensure adherence to programme and troubleshooting any issues in order to guarantee unremitting operations throughout the execution phase of a programme
  • Capture lessons learned and ensure key information is duly incorporated in successive operational programmes.

When required:


  • Actively participate in SOR meetings
  • Participate in pre-spud meetings
  • Offshore installation visits when required
  • Participate in external meetings when required (i.e. contractors)
  • Participate in Risk Assessments, CTA, HAZOP and HAZIP when required

REQUIREMENTS


  • The job holder should be educated to degree level or similar to HNC or equivalent to, via qualified industry training and demonstrate High level of technical knowledge in the fluids area with a minimum of 7 years experience in offshore drilling operations.
  • The job holder should have good working knowledge of internal and external rules, standards and procedures in the fluids and environmental areas, and be trained to level appropriate to statutory regulations.
  • Fluent spoken and written English compulsory.  Fluent spoken and written French desirable
