The Fleet Services team have an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee our in-house fleet maintenance provision. You will be responsible for the management of an operational workshop team that maintains, repairs and services a diverse council fleet of 230 vehicles and over 300 pieces of plant; as well as a back-office team that includes technical supportand administrative posts. The role will require excellent knowledge of vehicle legislation and compliance to ensure vehicles & drivers are safe and an excellent standard of repair is at the forefront while achieving best value and quality for the council. The postholder will also be required to lead the change of the safe maintenance provision in relation to battery electric vehicles as the Council aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. The person applying should have sound knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements especially in the maintenance provision. There will be the responsibility to oversee and maintain our in-house class 4&7 MOT and taxi testing procedures, and in-house tachograph calibration centre.
The candidate will have experience in fleet and transport sectors. Working collaboratively and building relationships with end users will be an important part of the role. People management, leading, team skills and working on initiative will also be required.

The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The postholder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.
