Our client is going through a huge culture change to bring the organisation into 2024 and beyond and as such are looking for a fleet manager who would manage the companies various vehicles including HGVS x2 as well as company vans and vehicles x70 along with various construction equipment such as cranes and lifting gear.



The Fleet Manager role is responsible for providing strategic operational leadership and oversight of the company's vehicle fleet across all locations. This includes ensuring fleet assets are well-maintained, road-worthy, and fit for their intended purpose at all times while upholding the highest safety and compliance standards. The ultimate goals are to fulfil all contractual KPI measures related to fleet operations, deliver cost-effective and reliable transportation solutions that enable business objectives, and cultivate a safety-focused, asset-conscious culture across the field based workforce.





KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Operational Delivery



Manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure roadworthiness, reliability, and adherence to safety standards



Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules, monitor fuel consumption, and minimise vehicle downtime;



Managing the tracking of all company vehicles together with producing weekly reports of expectations, identifying any trends and areas for improvement.



Main point of contact for fleet related issues across the Group



Collaborate closely with senior and operational managers by providing regular performance reports on our fleet/drivers. This includes analysing data and metrics related to driver behaviours, incident costs, operating expenses, fines, license verification, and the composition of our vehicle fleet.



Governance & Control



Ensure we are compliant with insurances, certifications, driving licence checks, driving hours etc





Innovation & Sustainability



Develop and implement strategic plans for fleet management, including vehicle replacement strategies, growth projections, and long-term operational improvements. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the company's fleet remains competitive and efficient.



Commercial Accountability



Monitor the usage of existing plant machinery to ensure optimal utilisation and alignment with company targets.



Analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for potential investments or replacements.



Lead the procurement process for new vehicles and equipment, ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisitions. Evaluate and negotiate contracts with manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to achieve the best value for the company.



Minimise vehicle downtime through planning and scheduling of scheduled servicing, booking repairs for reported faults and where necessary arranging temporary replacement vehicles.

PERSON SPECIFICATION (EXPERTISE)



Experience, Skills & Qualifications



Experience of managing a fleet of Company vehicles



Excellent knowledge of the VOSA/ DVSA regulatory requirements with a strong working knowledge of UK fleet legislation.



Ability to negotiate deals with service providers



Experience of communication effectively at all levels



Working Knowledge and skills in selling aged vehicles to traders



Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)



Strong organisational skillsAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to use own initiative Ability to effectively manage & lead a team



Professional qualification such as CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) or CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) Degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Logistics or related fieldFull UK Driving licence
