FL94 is a NewCo pioneering the discovery of protein editors as a new category of medicines. To reach this goal we are creating the industry’s first generative covalent chemistry platform foundationed on merging AI with a massively scalable proprietary data generation paradigm that will programmably create actionable covalent small molecules targeted to any protein class. Both small molecule modulation of canonical function (using mono-valent editors) and novel induced proximity-driven functions (using bi-valent editors) are in scope to treat diseases spread within the full human proteome, not just the currently ligandable.
Position Summary:
FL94 is seeking a motivated Proteomics Scientist to join our team. In this role you will be a critical member of a team responsible for establishing and integrating state of the art chemical proteomics technologies and workflows across all functions within the protein editing platform including integration with AI. The ideal candidate brings expertise in chemical biology with experience developing mass spectrometry workflows. Experience working with covalency, proximity-based modalities, and performing peptide-level proteomics analyses is preferred. Successful candidates will be able to thrive as a motivated member of a face-paced team. This individual will have demonstrated evidence of understanding and achieving expertise in new technologies, and a can-do attitude of overcoming challenges and moving projects forward with urgency. They will be interested in contributing at the bench and be dedicated to scientific development of themselves and their team.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain hardware and software for the current state of the art chemical proteomics screening platform
Establish screening workflows to ensure the maximum throughput of data generation, while supporting hit-to-lead drug discovery programs
Innovate and improve sample preparation workflows to support a high throughput chemical proteomics platform
Work with biology, biochemistry and compound management teams to troubleshoot and optimize screening high value targets
The successful candidate will have all the following skills necessary to perform in a fast-paced, purposeful, highly integrated, and pioneering environment
Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or other related fields with 0-3+ years of experience in an industry or postdoc position OR a Master’s degree in similar fields with 4+ years industry experience
Experience with various proteomics quantification methods (TMT, DIA) for unbiased discovery or targeted analysis of protein expression
Deep understanding of proteomics sample prep, preferably for chemical proteomics workflows
Experience operating and maintaining nanoLCs coupled to Thermo Tribrid and/or Exploris series mass spectrometers for diverse applications in quantitative proteomics is required
Ability to independently analyze proteomics data using commercial software packages (e.g. ProteomeDiscoverer, MaxQuant, FragPipe, Spectronaut)
Experience with large-scale data interpretation and visualization using various programming languages (R/Rshiny, Python) is a plus.
Strong understanding of relevant concepts in cancer biology, protein biochemistry, and a general understanding of chemical reactivity is required.
The desire and ability to contribute to teams working on challenging scientific problems and first-in-class therapeutics
Desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, while employing tact, patience, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit
Outstanding decision making, organizational and analytical skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of clearly and concisely presenting data to a diverse group of scientists
