Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer (PFP)
Location: Manchester and nationwide (hybrid work)
Type: Permanent
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum plus car allowance, private healthcare, pension, bonus and more (negotiable subject to experience)
A major UK food retailer is seeking to appoint a Fire Protection Engineer (with a bias for Fire Protection) to join their team permanently and take lead in managing all fire related aspects across their business units. As a senior member of the team, you will be the resident in-house expert managing capital budgets of up to £200m per year for new builds and refurbishment works.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to split your time across your home, office, and unique sites nationwide. As such, the ideal associate will be technically minded with the ability to influence decisions at a high level. Previous experience within Passive Fire Protection is essential to undertake your duty to full effect.
Responsibilities:
• Drive advancements in fire safety across all property-related business units, aligning with investment priorities and ensuring top-tier safety standards.
• Oversee a network of professional services, ensuring efficient collaboration with contractors and access to high-quality resources.
• Spearhead the creation and improvement of model properties, continuously seeking innovative solutions and enhancements.
• Develop and manage operational procedures, conducting regular reviews to ensure robust passive and active fire protection measures.
• Provide expert technical advice within our supplier relationship management framework, driving continual improvements.
• Guide a diverse team of consultants, contractors, and specialists in the fire safety category, fostering best practices and commercial optimization.
• Proactively create a forward-thinking category that sets industry benchmarks, ensuring a successful and efficient supply chain.


What we require from you:
• Degree qualified in Engineering or Building services (essential)
• A strong design background with a successful track record in refurbishment and maintenance within retail, commercial, and industrial sectors. essential
• Proven experience in technical specification writing and acting as a technical specialist for contractors and supply chain requirements.
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Understanding and implementation of technical details ensuring compliance with relevant legislations
• Experience in commercial procedures and estimating (welcomed but not essential).
• Passionate and experienced in influencing and building relationships with key stakeholders.
