Financial Controller" - On Site - West Malling

Overall, this is an opportunity to work for and build trust within an independently owned SME who have trebled their turnover to £7million in 2 years. You’ll want to support the owners with their continued growth without ‘running’ before you know the business and their goals. And of course, you will enjoy working alongside a friendly wider team where you’ll train, mentor and manage to deliver the highest level of Accounts & Finance service possible.
Who is my client?
An SME within the Security sector who provide a variety of Security Solutions to businesses across the UK. Currently they have 14 full time office based employees and over 50 operational staff.
Who are you?
· Very likely, you will currently be or have experience as "Financial Controller" within a similar size business.
· You’ll be a confident friendly communicator who is career oriented and skilled at managing, motivating and building a strong Accounts team – you will want to be an active part of the team NOT just the Manager.
· You’ll come with credentials that highlight the value you have added to a business, where you have introduced robust processes, procedures that enable the business to grow.
· You’ll enjoy collaborating with the Operations Manager and team to ensure that each division is supported.
· Confident in your ability for managing the team – Snr Accounts Payable, Snr Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Accounts Team Leader, Accounts Admin.
· A Sage 50 expert, you’ll know how to get the best out of the system to support a growing business.
· An open plan office that is full of life won’t distract you, more so you will enjoy the lively friendly – incredibly busy – office environment where everyone makes the tea!
What do you need to succeed?
You will be required to be full time office based which is expected to be 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
· Strong track record in a similar role - ideally as "Financial Controller"
· Full or part qualified in a relevant subject / or qualified by experience - ACCA / CIMA / AAT 4
In addition to managing the team, you will also carry out tasks including (not limited to):
· Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
· Verify that all transactions are recorded in the correct day book, Suppliers Ledger, Customers Ledger, and General Ledger
· Provide accurate and timely Monthly Management Accounts
· Bring the books to Trial Balance stage
· Closely and continuously monitor the Debtors and Creditors Ledgers
· Perform partial checks of the posting process
· Ensure strict VAT compliance
· Complete tax forms
· Liaise with the Accountant and provide relevant information for year end
