We are fortunate to have some of the industry's leading professionals amongst us and a group of bright and committed teammates.We are looking for an ambitious Financial Controller to join our finance team, based in Glasgow. The Financial Controller will hold responsibility for a wide range of key areas including, accounting & financial reporting, compliance & tax and core financial operations. As a truly global SME the role demands a face paced, flexible approach while maintaining the high standards already embedded across the department. They will bring a wealth of experience, a solid educational background, and a comprehensive skill set encompassing accounting principles, financial statement creation, general ledger management, and proficiency in accounting software administration.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting and financial reportingPlay the key role on the annual Group audit, working closely with the audit team and ensuring it is delivered on time and to plan.Review all Group and Subsidiary annual financial statements prepared by external advisors on the statutory accounts, and review management accounts as prepared by the finance team/yourselfResponsible for complex accounting areas to ensure accuracy of financial reporting and suitability of accounting policy.Prepare consolidated monthly financials with relevant analysis and review, prepared for the board of directors, shareholders, and executive team.Corporate, compliance and taxLocal compliance oversight in each group company regarding filing and taxation requirements including statutory corporate filings, payroll and business registrations, corporate and indirect taxes.Optimisation of R&D incentive programme in all relevant jurisdictions.Act as key contact to accountants, tax advisors, bankers, auditors and other advisors where appropriate in all locationsDetailed understanding of the Group Share Options plan including process for and implications of issuing and exercising options in various locations.Financial OperationsEnsure business wide adherence to procurement/expenditure controls, policies, and processes.Ownership of and accountability for day-to-day finance operations in all locations including A/R and A/P.Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Finance team.Ownership of accounting systems and tools to optimise efficiency and control.Develop and carry out initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce time to report.Line management responsibilities for our Finance Associate and Group Accountant, as well as working closely with the Head of Finance.Ad hoc requirements as directed by the Head of Finance or VP of Business Operations.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseProfessional Background:The ideal candidate for the role should possess a proven track record of successful employment as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager within a global organization. This individual must be a qualified accountant, holding credentials such as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification, with a demonstrable Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).A comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and procedures is essential for this position. Adept at navigating the intricate landscape of financial operations, demonstrating proficiency in the formulation and interpretation of financial statements. This involves a deep familiarity with the nuances of creating financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a comprehensive representation of the organization's financial health.Hands-on experience with general ledger functions and be well-versed in overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes.
