Financial Controller, UKDepartment: Core - FinanceEmployment Type: Permanent - Full TimeLocation: Oxford, UKDescriptionAbout the positionThis is a fantastic opportunity for a Finance professional to take on a generalist Finance position providing exposure and experience of the entire Finance ecosystem with the potential opportunity to grow the remit into a bigger & more strategic EMEA role.As a key member of the Oxford Finance team, the Financial Controller has full responsibility and ownership for managing of certain finance related activities and reports to the UK Senior Finance Accountant based in Oxford, UK.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in Close month end management accounts for your assigned group in line with required governance frameworks and timelines; ensuring financial accuracy and completeness, and variance analysis where required.Assist in reconciling Balance Sheet accounts, and Accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers, and supporting the AP/AR clerks in their work activities.Ensuring transactions are recorded in line with local accounting laws and regulations.Assist with year-end audit activities.Assist the commercial finance teams to understand the status of projects to ensure that revenue is recognised appropriately.Maintaining the subscriptions database for the office to ensure that revenue is recognised appropriately, and customers are invoiced on timely basis.Assisting in providing analysis on topics relating to finance matters for the Managing Director and Office Manager as required.Ensure the Processing of purchase invoices and staff expenses (until new ERP system is in place) is complete and timeous.Ensure Purchasing approval Matrices are maintained and deliver any ERP changes required.Develop and implement your ideas to optimise financial processes.Involvement in the enhancements required to ERP system which as implemented in 2023.Support to the Group Finance team with all necessary tasks.And other business-related ad-hoc projects.What we are looking forRequired attributes:CA/ACCA / CIMA qualified or part qualified or AAT qualified accountant (or equivalent)Has a can-do attitudeAble to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high quality resultsFlexible approach to task management with the ability to adapt easily and quicklyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to prioritise and effectively manage expectations across multiple internal stakeholdersGood analytical skills and ability to provide constructive challenge.Experience of reporting and analysis from financial systemsStrong attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to appreciate the bigger picturePragmatic and analytical approach to problem solvingAble to work to tight timescales with minimal supervisionOrganised and ability to prioritise workloadMS Excel skillsKnowledge of all general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processTeam-oriented and interested in working in an international environmentDesired experience:Advisory/Consulting/Legal or Subscriptions based industry experienceWhat we offerThe opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a successful and thriving finance team in a fast-paced and exciting industry.A dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and supportive environmentA fun, informal and international work cultureAn office in the centre of Oxford with coffee, fruit, and snacks available in the officeA competitive salary packageAccess to the Aurora Academy, our training programme offering a range of opportunities to develop your skillsAt Aurora we will consider all requests for flexible working.
