Job Description

We currently have over 300 employees operating out of 8 distribution depots, 3 manufacturing sites and our Head Office at the Port of Tilbury.
What is the main purpose of the role?
To work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure accurate delivery of month and year accounts and support the annual budgeting process, to ensure the business is making sound financial decisions and tracking accurately. This role will be based in our Head office but we are happy to consider a flexible working pattern after a period of training.
What are the key areas of responsibility?
Working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure accurate month end preparation including processing of accruals and prepayments.
Reporting of the management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and variance analysis.
Prepare and reconcile the balance sheet, intercompany and fixed asset registers.
Daily cash management including bank reconciliations and reporting balances to external providers.
Prepare and review quarterly VAT returns.
Assist with the external quarterly and annual audits.
Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Other project and ad hoc duties as required.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
Part qualified/fully qualified accountant or significant accounting experience.
Experience working in an SME
distribution/manufacturing
business
Advanced Excel skills, pivot tables, V Look Ups
Strong attention to detail and well developed analytical skills.
Excellent inter-personal skills and able to work as part of a cross-functional team.
Experience of Microsoft Dynamic would be useful
