Job Description
Grafton Banks Finance is working with a profitable SME business, based in Redhill, to recruit a newly created Financial Accountant role.
This role will report into the Financial Controller (number one in finance) and will lead a small team to deliver all financial and statutory accounting for the business.
We are looking for a practice trained accountant who is driven and ambitious. The Financial Controller is keen to hire someone who can be their successor in the next 18-24 months. You could be making your first move into industry, or already working in industry and looking for your next role. To be considered you will need to be experienced managing staff and will ideally have worked with SME clients or be working in an SME. The role is broad and hands on and requires someone who wants to work in an SME.
The role offers very flexible working with one day per week required in the clients Redhill offices, so we require someone who is comfortable working and managing a team remotely.
Key responsibilities:
Manage a team of 4 Finance staff to carry out all financial processing and information functions, with appropriate resilience and financial controls.
Provision of financial information both routinely and on an ad hoc basis to inform decision making, and ensure proper cost control.
Progressing monthly accounting processes in accordance with an agreed reporting timetable, using appropriate communication both within the Finance team and in the wider business.
Running the year-end accounting process, including all year-end accruals, prepayments and critical judgements.
Preparation of individual and consolidated statutory accounts for audit and management of the annual audit process.
Monitoring of cashflow and preparation of cashflow forecasts for operational planning.
Participation in the management of all banking arrangements and relationships.
VAT compliance including the submission of VAT returns, and the supervision of VAT.
Salary for this role is £55,000 – 65,000 + benefits. We are looking for someone with a high level of attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
