As specialty provider of primary insurance services in the UK, Great Lakes Insurance SE, UK Branch is a substantial part of our parent, Great Lakes Insurance SE in Munich. Our interlocked business model is to seize opportunities closely connected to the reinsurance core business and innovation opportunities, in our role as an integral part of the Munich Re Group. Great Lakes Insurance SE currently operates from its Head Quarter in Munich, and via branch offices in UK, Switzerland, Italy and Australia.
In the UK, Great Lakes is currently undergoing the authorisation process from the Prudential Regulatory Authority and Financial Conduct Authority for a Third Country Branch and a Subsidiary. These two entities will secure our future in the primary insurance service market in a post-Brexit world, by enabling us to continue writing our existing business.
About the role: As a finance systems analyst your role will be to contribute to improving all finance systems, providing systems process enhancements, solutions to “painpoints” & driving new opportunities & initiatives for continuous finance systems improvements. To be responsible for applying a thorough knowledge of company’s finance functions to implement, integrate, troubleshoot and maintain financial systems, workflows and processes. You will work with staff to identify workflow gaps and generate automatic processes and reports from different data sources. Develop reusable & scalable improvements for finance related IT systems and embed in day to day business as usual.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and/or develop financial reports; assist in analyzing financial reporting requirements. Identify & design process improvements in relation to financial systems, related workflow processes and approvals.
Serve as business lead and subject matter expert in company business processes for the implementation of new or revised Financial reporting system, processes, related systems and procedures
Use project management skills in managing assigned projects. May provide overall project management and business analysis for a given Financial initiative.
Assist in identifying and defining systems & process alternatives capable of meeting business needs.
Utilize standard reporting tools to write, maintain & support a variety of reports/queries.
Maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
Develops standardized reports for customer to help them to monitor their processes-working with departmental staff to identify these requirements.
Develop documented guidelines and develop workflow systems process maps and training manuals to generate better understand of “ how we should do things”, generating efficiency in operations and sharing knowledge
Plan and provide/arrange training classes for staff as needed on the use of Financial/reporting systems, including initial training for new users, training on new processes or training to groups on specific functionality.
Support best practices for system and process change management, documentation of system processes and business practices & the development of standards for processes

Key Skills & Experience:
Strong communication skills with all different types of stakeholders.
Be confident with facilitating, presenting & negotiating skills
Demonstrable experience of project management
Being hands on with business process design and change management
Business analysis skills from feasibility study through to delivery
Strong understanding of IT business architecture design and operating models.
Experience with process enhancements using better structured tasks & IT solutions
Ability to work with third parties and offshore development teams.
Advanced Excel skills (VBA Macros, SUMIF, INDEX & MATCH, Power Query-linking various data sources)
MS Office with Python
Good understanding of systems development life cycle & relevant iterative agile systems improvements
Good experience in leading and guiding new and unexperienced team members.
Data process mapping
Support the managing finance projects end to end
Support cross-over between IT and Finance with critical thinking (analyse, reasoning, evaluating, problem solving, decision making, analysing again)
Support business modelling & Requirements engineering
Look for innovative ideas for improvement in finance/IT
Experience in budgeting projects in line with scope requirements and associated risks and resource requirements
Experience with Digital Finance Platform Data extractions Queries
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Business Analyst with extensive systems experience
Ability to work independently & take responsibility for deliverables
Proven Insurance & finance sector knowledge

Regulatory & Conduct Requirements:
Over the coming years, the branch will transition to a third country branch to continue to operate post Brexit. Therefore, in addition to the responsibilities set out above, the xxxx role/function will also become responsible for:
Satisfying all regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function
Liaising with all relevant regulatory bodies in the UK, creating a highly credible reputation and strong, collaborative relationship [insert any prescribed responsibilities]
Ensuring compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules
