As a skilled and experienced Bookkeeper, you will be working within a small, collaborative finance team to manage a variety of financial and operational tasks. Reporting directly to the company Directors, your role will ensure accurate financial reporting and help streamline our accounting processes. These values—Enabling, Nurturing, Aspiring—are not just words on a wall; they're the principles guiding our every action.Responsibilities Processing payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner Handling all aspects of payroll administration, including calculating wages, processing tax and pension deductions, and producing payslips Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records Assisting with year-end financial processes and audits Handling employee queries regarding payroll or financial matters Processing and recording financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, invoices, and expenses Preparing and maintaining financial documents, such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements Monitoring financial transactions and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures Performing bank reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies Assisting with budgeting and financial forecasting Conducting financial analysis and providing reports to management as needed Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and tax returns Keeping up-to-date with financial regulations and best practices To excel in this role, you should have strong analytical skills, understand the importance of accuracy, and possess the ability to innovate; working both independently and as part of a team. Minimum of 2 years Sage experience Demonstrated experience gained in a similar role Excellent attention to detail Strong organisational and time management skills Good understanding of payroll laws and regulations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Qualified or part-qualified in finance or accounting (e.g. AAT, ACCA) is preferred but not essential
