Finance Manager

We are working with a local authority in Trafford to find a Finance Manager on a permanent basis.
Annual Salary: £52,580 - £55,791 per annum
Location: Trafford, Stretford M32. 1-3 days per week in the office.

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Finance Manager to join our Financial Management team. This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of transformation and innovation within an ambitious and forward-thinking council. With a focus on the Adults & Wellbeing Directorate, the successful candidate will manage a professional team to deliver financial targets and outcomes for the Council.
Day to Day of the Role:
Lead a finance function within the public sector, specifically supporting the Adults & Wellbeing Directorate.
Provide high-quality, timely, and accurate financial information, advice, and guidance to aid decision-making processes.
Manage the preparation of year-end statutory and management accounts.
Navigate the governance and political context of local government financial arrangements.
Support the strategic leadership of the Council and liaise with chief officers in partner organisations.
Operate with attention to detail, working autonomously and collaboratively to achieve objectives.
Lead and manage a team of approximately 5 members, ensuring the delivery of management accounts and financial targets.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
CCAB qualified accountant
Proven track record in financial management within a public sector organisation.
Experience in local government finance and understanding of the financial arrangements.
Ability to contribute effectively to decision-making processes.
Experience in Adult’s social care finance is advantageous.
Strategic leadership skills with excellent communication abilities.
Flexible team player and proactive problem solver.
Enthusiasm for making a positive difference for residents.
