We strongly believe in the benefits a diverse team brings, and having and equitable culture in which all our people can thrive, with everyone being able to influence our day-to-day working for the better, and encouraging growth.What this role entailsManage payroll, and timely submission of Tax & VAT returns and liabilities.Manage the Budget & Forecasts process and prepare budgets & forecasts including capex.Manage company CAP table and Option Pool registers.Manage preparation and delivery of statutory accounts and any internal or external audit requirements.Manage month-end close and produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts for the company and compiling monthly financial reports for senior management and quarterly reports for board.Manage the financial component of grant and tender applications.ObjectivesImplement and maintain accounting & reporting systems that deliver accurate & timely financial information. Recommend other appropriate systems to improve of quality of financial informationMaintain efficient financial controls for key processes, such as expenses, procurement, invoicing and recoveries and take ownership of the full financial and accounting records, ensuring external compliance and statutory reporting requirements are met (Monthly accounts, Annual Accounts, VAT, HMRC compliance, R&D tax credit etc).Lead the development of advanced financial models for strategic initiatives including licensing agreement, consultancy, revenue projections and techno economical modelling.Selection criteria1)Experience ACA/AAT or equivalent qualified accountant.Experience in a senior/management finance role.Delivering for an organisationHas developed and managed finance function previously. Has supported Senior Leadership Team in strategic financial planning.2)Team workingDemonstrate ability to work with a diverse range of people, working towards a common goal in a multi-disciplinary environment.3)ExpertiseEssential: Experienced individual with ACA/AAT or equivalent qualified accountant.Preferable: Experience of working in a startup/spin out/research environment. Familiarity with grant programs.
