Job DescriptionIn this role you will be the leader of the finance function for what is a small but growing company. We are looking for someone who has excellent internal reporting experience including Management Accounts, variance analysis skills and the ability to support budget holders with crucial information to enable business growth. You will also have responsibility for their external reporting to Companies House, HMRC and ensuring they are compliant with all financial and legal obligations.This is an ideal role for a Qualified Auditor or other Qualified Accountant who is looking for a career development opportunity, initially hired as the Finance Manager you will progress to Head of Finance and eventually there is potentially an opportunity to become the Finance Director if the business achieves key milestones.Your role will include:Preparing Management Accounts for the team and for the Board, your role here is to analyse actual performance against targets and provide insight into business performance.You will enable decision making at a senior level through financial modelling, financial analysis and report writing for both expert and non-expert audiences.You will manage one staff member who will help you to manage all aspects of company financial operations which will include payment runs, payroll and other financial administration tasks.You will have responsibility for statutory reporting, VAT returns and ensuring the business is legally compliant and so you will lead external relationships with Companies House, Auditors and HMRC.This is an SME with ambitious growth plans, you are expected to work collaboratively with others but also show willingness to get involved with things out with the normal remit of a Finance Manager.The role is going to be busy, but exciting at the same time. The company only has 18 employees and they have achieved 90%+ year on year growth over the last 3 years and there is a forecast in place for more of the same again.We therefore need someone who can grow with the company with potential to become the Finance Director eventually.We are looking for someone who might come from the following areas:Qualified Accountant holding an ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA or equivalent professional accounting licence, and some post-qualifying experience.Trained in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting practice and this might be your first move into industry, we can consider a variety of backgrounds.Trained in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting practice and this might be your 2nd or 3rd move within industry with your post-qualifying time spent gaining practical hands-on experience.You might also be industry trained and have spent your career building your knowledge from junior to senior level.You will come with excellent people skills, experience in managing staff directly or indirectly, be a very effective communicator and have a personal style suited to a senior role.We are open to ideas about your background, there is no one path but you will be a qualified accountant with personal qualities to back your qualifications.The business is collaborative where people work closely together to achieve positive outcomes.
