This well invested, and prominent Glasgow based commercial insurance broking organisation have a brilliant platform to execute their significant growth plan over the next 5-7 years and have an opening for you to join them to help define, implement and drive the finance strategy for the business. Here you'll enjoy the vibrant, fast-moving culture whilst working along side a team of 25 insurance professionals, all driving toward the common goal of growing the business to a 7 figure revenue operation. The firm have undertaken a recent management restructure to prepare them for their next phase of organic and acquisition growth with a longer-term exit planned which will see you reap a significant reward moving forward. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll work on a hybrid basis with 2 days pw in the Glasgow offices and 3 days from home with a varied remit including the day-to-day leadership of the finance function with strategic work encompassing acquisition planning and negotiations and relationships management of PE backers. Objectives of this roleTake responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company's financial strategyCoordinate development of annual operating, capital, and budgets as well as reporting for the sameEnsure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organisationDevelop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organisation that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflowsResponsibilitiesWorking with CEO to develop budget proposals and provide access to project finance informationAnalysing internal operations and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancementManaging the finance team on a day-to-day basisEnsuring all reconciliations are maintained and up to date and fully investigate and correct any issue that arise out of those reconciliations in a timely manner.Overseeing the collection of debts from clientsRunning monthly payroll and payables to suppliers and administering the Xero accounting systemAssisting in ensuring that the company operates all compliance processes as required by a FCA registered business and that all financial reporting to regulators such as FCA are completed and submitted correctly and on time.Liaising with external agencies such as HMRC, Banks, Broker Network, lawyers, investorsMaintaining the Company Secretarial records for the businessActing as a member of the risk committee reviewing and approving all contracts and agreements for the business and considering complaints and agreeing outcomes from investigationsRequired skills and qualificationsFive or more years of experience in executive leadership rolesExcellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrityExceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skillsUnderstanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planningCompliance:Be aware of the contents of the company's Guides to Best Practice and ensure a full understanding of those relevant to the role. Ensure compliance to the company's employment policies and procedures as contained within the Employee Handbook.Ensure compliance with the Individual Conduct rules and Conduct policies.Ensure all other company practices and procedures are followed and adhered to.Where appropriate take responsibility for meeting the reporting requirements of the FCAWhere required ensure staff are adhering to FCA compliance.
