Finance Director

CMA Executive brings a new opportunity for an ambitious CFO/FD to join a rapidly growing and successful retail organisation in Southampton, who are revolutionising their niche industry and garnering huge market share in the UK and further afield. This entrepreneurial business has enjoyed and continues to forecast substantial revenue growth,  producing more than 100% year on year. As part of the wider expansion plans that will see efforts to grow in the US and a European market, a new CFO/Finance Director is expected to partner with the Founders and Management team to devise sound and achievable business strategy, help grow and develop a small finance function and oversee external relationships with prospective investors and advisors and governance bodies. What the Finance Director position will involve:

• Provide sound and insightful financial analysis to support growth and create better understanding of business performance from end to end.
• Leading a small finance function, developing members of the team and continuing to grow both capacity and develop efficiency, utilising external accountants when required and applying a hands-on approach.
• Manage capital for growth investment and ensure there is a cost benefit analysis conducted for any investment plans.
• Provide full strategic support for future lending and investment opportunities, partnering with the Executive leadership team, preparing the business for future investment plans.
• Prepare the business for future external investors and the enable the company to facilitate the governance processes for such an event.
• Support the CEO and Leadership Team in commercial decision making, working through regulatory matters and ensuring the is efficient processes to deliver strategic goals.
• Manage all relationships with external bodies including Auditors, Banks and advisory services.
• Manage accounting software and additional systems platforms with the assistance of Operations.
• Assure regulatory compliance and manage for tax issues with the use of Advisors.

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Director vacancy:

• Fully qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE.
• Experience of supporting a Board through a high growth journey, ideally within the retail or Ecommerce space.
• Strong commercial acumen with an appetite to improve processes and be a self-starter.
• Knowledge of expansion into International markets is important and involvement in warehousing, sub contracted manufacturing and logistics will all be considered useful.
• Previous engagement with third party funders, including Private Equity experience will be considered extremely beneficial. Previous transaction or third party investment experience will be considered desirable.
