Purpose of the roleThe purpose of the role is to be the Finance Business Partner for our Public Sector Line of Business. This will include, but not be limited to, ensuring month end transactions are processed correctly, liaison with Project Managers to ensure that contract accounting for projects is up to date and correctly booked for month end and input into month end reports to explain variances to forecast.Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance this role is key to creating a supportive and insightful relationship that facilitates the link between financial performance and operational performance, enhancing visibility of the financial strategy and ensuring business decisions are influenced by and aligned with the financial strategy.This is a great role for a newly qualified accountant looking for true commercial exposure and interaction across the business - especially with project managers and the sales teams.Responsibilities:Support the Project Managers in order to correctly account for projects on a monthly basis.Work with the bids team to provide financial support for tendersWork with Sales and Delivery teams to build budgets / forecastsTimely production of month end results including understanding variances to forecastProvision of ad-hoc reports to support the business as and when requiredManage the sales commission process for the Public Sector sales functionSupport SG&A cost centres with analysis of overtime and other costsWork with Operations / Delivery teams to understand customer / contract profitabilityIdentify and drive financial efficiency across all areas of the businessIdentify, report and analyse KPIs to influence the businessYour areas of knowledge and expertise:RequiredNewly qualified accountantStrong numerical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.Experience of making process improvements.Excellent communication and strong influencing skills.Excellent team player.Delivering accurately within tight timescales.Strong Excel Skills, good Powerpoint skills.Strong ability to interpret financial informationAble to work with ambiguity & be comfortable with change.AdvantageousExperience of Project AccountingBackground in telecoms / ICTExperience of Microsoft Navision / Business CentralWe want everyone at MLL to 'Bring their best self to work' and we do this by asking you to live our value behaviours.
