About the roleTo provide reporting, planning and analytical support to the Finance Team and the wider business teams to aid financial control and decision making whether for trading, financial services, marketing, operational or support functions.Role ResponsibilitiesMONTH END ROUTINES & CONTROLSEnsure accurate & timely month end accounts with insightful commentary. To include balance sheet reconciliations, highlighting risks and opportunities.Pro-actively work with business functions / departments to ensure schedules - whether income, margin, cost or commitment are accurate & provided in a timely manner with variances clearly explained.Schedules & systems for monitoring spend maintained & processes adhered to: For example: PO system & spend trackerUnderstand and produce schedules and period end journal for business functionsProduce and explain variance analysis for month end and planningBeing comfortable creating and delivering presentation of financial information to budget holdersUnderstand and challenge areas of responsibility in the P&LDECISION SUPPORTProvide accurate financial analysis to aid commercial decision making, and dealing with ad-hoc requestsSupport business case production and project accountingFORECASTS & PLANNINGUnderstand and agree timetable with FP&A ensuring that stakeholders understand deadlines and expectationsUpdate/maintain forecast models in conjunction with agreed assumptions and planned activitiesUnderstand / challenge forecast assumptions and impact on business P&LComplete relevant templates to other business units to enable operational planning and financial recharges - being confident in the information provided and prepared to field challenge.Upload & reconcile total business budgets / forecasts to D365BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE & SUPPLEMENTARYBuild business relationships to ensure objectives achievedInquisitive approach to problem solvingDeputise for Managers where appropriateAttend and contribute to cost and income planning / actuals meetings ensuring pre information provided and deadlines metOther duties as requiredMiscellaneousTo be committed to good outcomes for customers at all timesEnsure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, Company Policies and FCA Conduct RulesDemonstrate behaviours in line with our Company valuesTo take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by acts and omissions at workAbout youRole Related Skills, Specialist Knowledge and ExperienceStrong user of Word, Excel- able to set up tables, spreadsheets, graphs etcBasic commercial understanding of business and retailing.Studying/aiming towards a professional accountancy qualificationRetail experience preferable - but certainly some understanding of the challenges & KPI's in managing a retail businessUnderstanding of the importance of the accuracy of the detail that underpins management accountsCommercial awareness - the ability to apply that understanding to the role's requirements.Ability to persuade other people to an objective point of viewGood organisational skillsAbility to communicate written & oral financial information clearly & concisely to all levels of personnel - providing summaries which facilitate a clear interpretation of the detail and enable quick decision makingStrong Excel and reporting skills, including modelling and visual basic.Ability to deliver to strict reporting deadlines whilst maintaining accuracyGeneral ledger experienceOther relevant experienceWorked in a group or team to deliver a projectQualifications & Professional Development/MembershipsMaths and English grade C or above, or equivalent.AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACAPersonal AttributesAbility to work under pressure to tight deadlines with high levels of accuracyAble to commute to Bradford city centre (hybrid working).Why FGH?Our staff enjoy competitive benefits including staff discount, generous annual leave, healthcare cash plan together with a vibrant, colourful, creative and flexible working atmosphere.
