Telent's Network Services Vehicle Engineering Field Team are looking for an addition due an increase in work and acquisition of new Emergency Services projects. We are looking for a Field Supervisor to look after a talented team of Engineers within the Vehicle fit-outs and Engineering team, across the London / South East of England and South Coast regions. This is a field based role that will see you travel to site, and visiting our London based depot from time to time - providing you with full autonomy.

Reporting to the Network Services Field Manager, this role will be key to join the field services and management teams together to form a cohesive and productive workflow. Supporting Public Emergency Services projects UK wide but focussed regionally, you will Supervise and lead a team of highly skilled Field Engineers on a day-to-day basis.

Field Supervisor - What you'll do:

  • Provide financial / business / a commercial steer on field based operations where needed
  • Support the delivery of day to day tasks in line with business expectations
  • Manage availability of Resource / Field Engineers to carry out critical work on "support and maintenance" / project work
  • Manage performance against operational plans
  • Help promote staff retention and well-being

Supervise, Lead & Assist

  • Lead and supervise a teams of full time permanent and contract staff engaged in all aspects of install and test site activity.
  • Manage and deliver programmes of work in region on behalf of the Field Manager
  • Encourage more efficient ways of working
  • Promote any Ideas to achieve efficiency target set by the business
  • Assist in the Induction of New starters
  • Assist with Scheduling
  • Be professional whilst on site to promote a positive image of Telent
  • Assist in reviewing and amending of documentation in line with agreed processes and procedures
  • Provide support to implement all Company Policy, Procedures and Instructions relating to Health and Safety of Company employee's contractors, sub-contractors and any other persons who may be affected by Telent activities.
  • Aim to reduce overtime in teams by implementing or assisting with smarter ways of working
  • Identify sales opportunities whilst conducting role
  • Provide administration support for Field Manager in regard to field operations.
  • Supervise the installation and testing of equipment and materials from contract manuals and procedural documents to required standards of quality and time.
  • Ensure engineers complete all works to a high standard (first time fix)

Train & Manage

  • On site supervision of engineers
  • Mentor colleagues and subcontract staff to achieve required time and quality standards.
  • Ensure work completed in-line with business processes
  • Deliver training to field engineers, subcontract staff and customers when required
  • Brief local health and safety updates as well as Toolbox Talks
  • Manage and conduct site Inspections, Vehicle Audits and Quality Audit
  • Complete Quality Control checks on internal and external teams, recording results accurately using the correct procedures.

Tooling Control

  • On site management of materials, tooling and plant.
  • Have and maintain an accurate understanding of test equipment each team member holds and requirements
  • Tool Audits as and when needed
  • Compliance with the company auditing processes and procedures in accordance with BSI requirements.

Vehicle Control

  • Care and maintenance of company vehicle and be fully compliant with all relevant driver policies
  • Update, maintain and manage vehicle information
  • Rollout new ways of working when implemented

Field Supervisor - Key requirements:

  • Vehicle installation code of practice: FCS1362:##########2
  • Full knowledge, understanding and enforcement of all Company Policy, Processes and Procedures relating to Field activities.
  • Copper and Fibre Networks
  • Proven experience within Telco environment.
  • Rack Installation
  • DC Power
  • Optical Fibre Knowledge
  • Legacy Systems (i.e.. SDH/System X)
  • Experience of leading large teams in single or multi-site telecoms installation activities.
  • Has provided regular cover for Field Manager or similar Field Management position during the last 12 months.
  • Cisco / Juniper awareness
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • ICCS knowledge
  • Vehicle Installation
  • Copper and Fibre Networks
