Field Service Technician

Location: Cambridge (CB5)

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week with 50% travel (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £30,000 - £45,000

Polytec are looking for a Field Service Technician for our client based in Cambridge.  Extensive travel is required for this role both within the UK and worldwide.  This is a physical role as you will be required to carry equipment in all weather conditions during field visits.  Although this is a temporary role in the first instance it has potential to become permanent for the right person.

Responsibilities:

* Install, maintain and repair monitoring systems

* Site surveying

* Installation, repair and maintenance of monitors and associated network equipment

* Liaison with customers

Requirements:

* BTEC, C&G or HNC or similar qualification in an engineering discipline

* Experience troubleshooting and working with systems involving software, electronics and mechanical systems

* Ability to explain complex terminology to customers

* Able to perform basic mechanical repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment

* Hands-on experience in a mechanical role

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* A valid driving licence is essential

* Experience of working within remote diagnostic, technical support solutions in a customer support environment

* Willing to travel both within the UK and on a global basis for up to 50% of the time, sometimes at relatively short notice

* Knowledge of foreign languages including Arabic, French, German, Polish or Portuguese would be helpful
