Field Service Engineer - Portsmouth - Permanent - Competitive Salary
Shorterm Group are currently working with an independent provider of Satellite Communications and IT managed solutions, where innovation and superior customer service are ingrained in our DNA. Our extensive array of services encompasses broadband VSAT and narrowband services across Ka, Ku, C, and L Bands from multiple constellations, alongside Push to Talk capabilities, navigation, positioning, and IT solutions. They empower Commercial, Government, and Defence clients to communicate seamlessly globally - be it at sea, on land, or in the air.
They're seeking a dynamic individual to assume the role of Technical Product Champion under the guidance of the Head of Product and Marketing. This pivotal position entails championing all of the companies products and services with technical prowess and finesse.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform field service and repairs on all scoped equipment and systems.
Execute standard and specialized field service installations, testing, and commissioning.
Engage with customers prior to conducting field duties, ensuring seamless service delivery.
Prepare test equipment, tools, spares, and installation materials meticulously before mobilization.
Deliver accurate and detailed technical reports for all activities, contributing to future service enhancements.
Provide time sheets and expense sheets for each activity, ensuring accurate cost allocation.
Maintain inventory of materials and test equipment, recording usage and reinstatement diligently.
Ensure prompt return of unused or defective spares using appropriate paperwork.
Uphold accountability for allocated vehicles, IT equipment, mobile phones, test instruments, and tools.
Arrange travel arrangements efficiently when operating outside the Portsmouth base.
Sustain technical proficiency and familiarity with company products.
Offer competent Datacoms and Satcom repair, test, equipment build, and workshop support as required.
Conduct GMDSS surveys as part of the role's scope.
The role involves: Contract maintaining, 24/7 repairs, 24-hour notice to be sent out to a repair. Upgrades, replacing, renewing equipment. Installations/modifications. Oil tankers, commercial cruise liners, shipping vessels.
Location and Commitments:
Full-time position, offering flexibility to work from home or our Redhill Office with regular visits to customer sites.
Annual bonus structure based on company and individual performance.

Candidate Requirements:
We are looking for people who have Repaired/looked after kit before, not just used it. Basics in electrical/electronics, worked on live equipment - candidates will need to know how to isolate, knowing how to lock off and tagging out equipment.
Presentable and articulate with the ability to engage effectively with Yacht Captains and onboard specialist staff for DVB fieldwork.
Minimum 'O' Level or equivalent standard education.
Preferably possess a skill base or education/qualification in IT.
Possess a clean current UK Driving Licence.
Hold certifications in GMDSS, GOC, and Offshore Survival (BOSIET & OLF).
Ability to obtain National Security Accreditation to SC or DV.
Willingness to undertake regular travel.
Capacity to achieve SC Clearance.
