This provides a real sense of professional collaboration at work, that will be an asset to your daily work, your career development and your support network.We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7Family Therapist, who will be an integral part of the UrgentCare Pathway; a newly designed pathway for children and young peoplewho require intensive and acute support with emotional and mental healthpresentations.Systemic practice and supervision are a key function of ouracross-county service, and you will have access to the training currentlybeing progressed across the pathway, including Positive behavioursupport, AMBIT, DBT skills, Motivational interviewing, crisis support,therapeutic assessment , solution focus brief therapy and many more!Attached to this role will be the exciting EMDR pilot, thesuccessful candidate will be trained to specialist children and young peoplelevel, and once trained, you will be participating in the research andevaluation with clinical lead colleagues of this exciting pilot.Main duties of the jobYou will work as part of a multi-disciplinary service, where there will be many opportunities to work with and learn from colleagues with different trainings and experiences. The Urgent Care pathway is made up oflocal and overarching leadership and management, Senior Mental Health practitioners, Assistant practitioners, Specialist Nursing, Consultant Psychiatry and Psychology .The pathway currently has an established and successful Assertive Outreach, Crisis service, and LDAP Keyworker Pilot.Our pathway teams are trained in Adaptive Mentalisation Based Integrative Therapy (AMBIT). This model will guide us in adopting a team around the key worker model of care, where CYP and their family/carers have a trusted and accessible worker who gains specialist advice and support from all the other professionals involved in their care.You will have a varied caseload and may support teams across the county bringing systemic practice into the care delivery of CYP and their families/carers who require intensive support with their mental health needs.You will be responsible for providing therapeuticintervention that is strengths-focused, evidence-based, and tailored to meet theneeds of the child/young person and their family/carer.We are looking for an individual who is passionate about workingwith children/ young people in the community with the confidence to interveneto meet a range of mental health needs.About usChildren and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. When staff are positive and friendly, they help to create an environment that is informal and without pressure.Job responsibilitiesPlease see full job description attached to this advert.You will be an experienced and qualified CAMHS professional(RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, psychotherapist) with professionalknowledge acquired through qualifying/masters level training in Family andSystemic Psychotherapy. You will be able to work alongside colleagues in amulti-disciplinary team and develop relationships across agencies to meet theneeds of children and families. The ability to adapt communication andintervention style to meet individual need is important and you will haveknowledge of child development and child protection procedures.Therole of the Family and Systemic Psychotherapist isto provide specialist systemic assessment and therapeutic services tochildren/young people and their families/carers who have been referred withcomplex needs.Within this role the post holder will:Contributeto the multi-professional team to provide specific, evidence-basedinterventions to children/young people and their families/carers.Haveoutstanding communication skills and the ability to engage with children/youngpeople and their families/carers as well as a range of professionals.Undertakespecialist assessments, manage risks and hold a complex caseloadUsinga strengths-based approach, ensure clinical effectiveness through the use ofevidence-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice and RoutineOutcome Measures.Providesupervision and support to other clinicians with the ability to demonstratecompassionate leadership, to understand and follow HR policies and procedures,ensure staff wellbeing and development and adopt a collaborative approach toengage staff with a range of skills and communication needs.Workeffectively with operational, professional and clinical leadership colleaguesto support clinicians in devising and implementing evidence-based care to suitthe individual needs of parents/carers and infants.Contributeto the provision of a range of early help/light touch interventions acrosspathways.Attend,participate and chair relevant meetings with the ability to present informationin a range of formats, adapting communication to meet the needs of others.Topromote and support participation of service users across the service.Person SpecificationKnowledge, skills and abilitiesHigh level knowledge of clinical presentations in children/young peopleKnowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term, evidence-based, clinical interventions.Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and DOLS legislationKnowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks, evidence based practice including NICE guidelinesKnowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety.Ability to integrate complex clinical information into a coherent formulation, making highly skilled evaluations and decisions taking a long term perspective where appropriateAbility to tolerate and reduce anxiety and distress in others, and use judgement skills to decide on relevant actions even in times of stress.QualificationsMasters level qualification in Family and Systemic PsychotherapyActive registration with the UKCP as a Systemic and Family TherapistPost qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young peoplePost qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervisionExperienceExperience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agenciesExperience of working systemically with a range of children and young people with complex needs, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuseExperience of undertaking specialist assessment and evidence-based systemic interventions, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessmentsExperience of safeguarding children and ensuring their safety in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.Experience of initiating, attending and contributing to multi-professional and interagency meetings.Experience of managing and processing emotionally distressing information, seeking support as requiredDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
