The College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University (KSU) invites candidates to apply for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank or Lecturer/Associate Lecturer rank in Aeronautics, Aviation, and related disciplines for a start date of Fall 2024.Recognizing and welcoming the diverse background of professionals working within the air transportation sector; candidates are encouraged to apply for consideration in one or more areas directly relevant to our BS offerings, including: aeronautical studies (AEST); air traffic and airspace management (ATAM); aviation management (AVMN); professional pilot (PROP); unmanned aircraft systems-flight operations (UASO); and aviation maintenance management (AVMM), a fully online completion degree for those with Part 147 certification. The ATAM, PROP and UASO programs are CTI programs. Of particular interest are faculty candidates with experience and credentials that align with the air traffic and airspace management (ATAM) and unmanned aircraft systems-flight operations (UASO) programs. The College of Aeronautics and Engineering has been rapidly growing, with the launch of new programs, growth in our aeronautics enrollment, and the opening of a new state-of-the-industry building expansion, hosting over 40,000 square feet of new labs, teaching spaces, and collaborative spaces. Our AEST, ATAM, AVMN, and PROP programs are accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) and our newer UASO and AVMM programs will be seeking AABI accreditation during the next affirmation cycle. Our aeronautics programs are seeing tremendous demand and growth. The college is hiring multiple faculty members in the next few years in key areas, including in aeronautics.
The College of Aeronautics and Engineering seeks candidates who have a passion for student success and who are committed to our Student’s First principles as a university and college. We seek candidates who can demonstrate teaching excellence; the ability to teach across a variety of formats, including lectures, experiential learning labs and simulation labs; the desire and ability to develop and teach new courses; and the knowledge to provide input on curricular changes to ensure our students are competitive and prepared for their careers. Relevant prior experience is critical.
While this career-track appointment is a non-tenure track position, opportunities exist to engage in research. Candidates should include such interest in their letter of application.

Minimum Qualifications:
M.S. degree in an aviation-related field, however candidates with a BS in aviation-related fields coupled with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience as practitioners with relevant professional certification, credentialing, or licensure in the aviation industry are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated excellent skills in communication, both oral and written, including ability to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable manner with clear instructions.
Demonstrated history of professionalism in their interactions with students, colleagues, and/or industry partners.
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
A doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) in aeronautics, aviation, or a relevant field of study.
Candidates being considered to support the ATAM program should demonstrate previous experience as a Full Performance Level air traffic controller at an FAA Level II, III, or IV facility for a minimum of 5 years.
Candidates being considered to support the UASO program should have their Remote Pilot Certification under 14 CFR Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Candidates being considered to support the PROP program are encouraged to have their FAA ATP Certification.
Demonstrated experience in innovative teaching methods, including online learning.
Relevant industry experience.
Previous teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
