This is a rare opportunity, a real chance to make a significant impact to your career, the growth of this organisation and the development of the people you will lead. Onit Recruitment is excited to be recruiting a Factory Manager for an industry leading FMCG manufacturing firm, to take full ownership of the management of their newly acquired production facility in Witham.

This organisation has been enjoying year on year growth, producing their product and selling it worldwide from 2 Suffolk based sites for the last 30 years. Early 2023 when other UK manufacturing sites were shrinking or closing, this one grew. Investing significantly into a 3rd site where the opportunity is huge.

They have spent 9 months doing the deepest of cleans, overhauling machinery, re-engaging some key staff, implementing some essential systems, trialing and developing products and getting 2 shifts up and running. The site is operational, it is working, but this is merely the beginning.

The next phase, secure a Factory Manager. Reporting to the Managing Director, responsibilities and accountabilities will be vast and varied, a snapshot of immediate and ongoing tasks include:

  • Getting to a 24hr production operation (currently circa 4 staff per shift)

  • All factory financials, including budgets, productivity, effectiveness, and yields

  • Ensuring all products produced to the highest standard within specification and on time

  • Manage and maintain product costings and report variances

  • Manage the engineering and staffing resource and associated costs

  • Organise asset and estate care

  • Health & Safety

  • Assessing current systems, devising and implementing new ones

The right person for this role will relish this challenge; clearly, previous experience of managing a factory / production operation is essential, ideally within the FMCG space. You will have life experience and your ability to manage people will be one of your greatest attributes. Personal character traits including resilience, commitment to quality and raising the bar at every opportunity will need to run deep.

If you have got this far, and are genuinely excited, either get your CV and cover letter to Gregor Alton at Onit Recruitment or give me a call to discuss in more depth prior to your application.

Once again, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growth programme with serious potential, for everyone involved.
