With a worldwide reputation for excellence and sustainability, Egis and 10 Design together provide a comprehensive service that encompasses building engineering and architectural design.Job DescriptionThe Facade Design Manager forms part of the Design / Consultancy team within the global structure of the company and assumes general responsibilities that proactively contribute to the growth of Façade Design capabilities and all other disciplines across the globe.This includes responsibility for all design, documentation, administration and compliance with project constraints undertaken for Façade and all other disciplines. You will also need to fulfil legal responsibilities commensurate with your position.The following is an overview of responsibilities and performance standards required of the Facade Design Manager:Major FunctionDuties include but are not limited to:Produce details of façade systems based on architectural sketches and assist in the delivery of detailed façade tender and shop drawing packages.Provide 2D drafting using Autocad software for architectural documentation and detailed working drawings such as architectural façade tender submissions and shop drawing packages for Façade/Curtain wall projects and prepare material schedulesProvide 3D drafting using AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Solidworks and/or Sketchup Pro to develop 3-dimensional details for the purposes of design development and/or drawing documentation as requiredInterpret and produce fabrication-level detailed drawings, sketches and written instructionsExperience with Roofing, curtain walling, SFS, and relevant Façade systemCoordinate with the relevant parties to raise/resolve project-related issues which could affect the delivery of the documentationFollow the general drawing protocols and CAD file system set by InhabitMaintain internal document control of drawings and changes following Inhabit standardsReview and evaluate design deliverables to ensure buildability and compliance, liaising with the client’s design team and specialist suppliersCoordinate with the relevant parties to raise/resolve project-related issues which could affect the delivery of the documentation and update your manager/project leader as requiredManage time to ensure the production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budgetAssist engineers and design team in regards to CAD or hand sketches for presentation purposes as requiredMonitor Design output from offices across the region and review shop drawings from contractorsLiaise with other staff, project teams, associated consultants and clients, and assist in building and maintaining relationships to determine the best façade design outcomesActively participate in design workshops and meetings, where cladding solutions are explored and determined. Workshops and meetings will be with clients, architects and contractorsProvide training in Design to other members of the team as requiredDevelop own skills in design, engineering, materials, etc.Keep an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant design techniques, technical standards, codes of practice and systems and procedures and share knowledge and update technical libraryKeep up to date with design software new to the market that will help develop our businessEvaluate opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness in consultation with management including identifying, developing and implementing standards, systems, tools and processes to support continuous improvement within the businessTake an active interest in the other disciplines (Design Documentation, Building Physics/ESD/PassivHaus, Acoustics, Logistics, BMU/Remedial, Lighting etc..) to further develop your specialist skillsProject Operation / ManagementYou shall be responsible for the efficient and profitable completion of all projects and tasks under your control whilst maintaining excellent technical standards and client satisfaction.Detailed responsibilities and/or targets include:Understanding cost planning and output required to meet project budgetsAssisting the management team in securing work, marketing and fee proposalsAllocation and management of time to suit programs and project budgetsEnsure projects are completed on time and without cost overrunEnsure high technical standing on the project such that client complaints do not ariseCustomer / Client ServiceYou shall continually strengthen client loyalty and gain repeat business by providing high-quality service and creative (‘Leading Edge’) solutions to clients by way of:Communicate with clients to establish their needs and maintain a dialogue throughout the projectMaintain an exceptional favourable record in client response to timeliness and quality of work providedContinually aim for repeat business from all clients in contact with InhabitTechnical Quality ControlYou shall assume full responsibility for work quality undertaken, including:Take necessary action to prevent the occurrence of design documentation and/or quality system non-conformityAdvise management if any tasks are beyond your current level of competency to get assistance, as and when requiredEnsure all project documentation is maintained to a level as required by Inhabits’ Quality Manager and QA systemEndorse and facilitate the quality management system (QMS) and the Business’s commitment to qualityMentoring, Training and Personal GrowthBe responsible for assisting in the professional and technical development of junior staff and assisting in the technical development of InhabitGrow and develop in professionalism and job effectiveness through reading Inhabits’ technical notes and contributing to the development and improvement of the technical notes on an active basisParticipate in educational programs and skill-based training as requiredCoordinate, participate and actively contribute to design workshops, where facade solutions are explored and determined. Workshops may be with architects, suppliers and fellow professionals and with the facade industryEnsure that personal goals are set and targeted for personal developmentQualificationsA degree in a relevant subject such as architecture, civil/ structural etc. engineering, or architectural technology.Experience of 3D Drafting using Autocad, Rhino, Solidworks, and/or Sketchup Pro, Revit to develop 3d details for the purposes of design development.
