seeking atalented and credible professional who is committed to high expectations andhigh standards. They will ensure that our schools are provided with the highestquality support, challenge and intervention in order to achieve this. This rolewill primarily be based in Cheshire East / Macclesfield.
The FermainAcademy and Skills Centre
we believe that we can reengage thosestudents (age 12 – 16) who have become disconnected with not onlymainstream education but with their own dreams and aspirations. We want to helpstudents to recognise their achievements, and by delivering a personalisedcurriculum that will allow them to sit a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent). We will prepare them for a world where they can truly realise their fullpotential. Designed to encourage all students to be respectful of, and generatetheir own alternative viewpoints and ideas, we’ll deliver a complete academic,social and emotional learning experience by placing students in smaller workinggroups led by adult role models that our students trust.

REPORTING TO:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Fermain Academy and associated provisions
The Executive Headteacher is responsible for:
·
To provide strategic and operationalleadership in all aspects of education delivery within The Fermain Academy andassociated projects and developments.
·
To be accountable for the quality of teachingand learning across allocated provisions
·
The outcomes, progress and behaviour of alllearners at The Fermain Academy and associated projects and the excellent runningof all provisions
MAINDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Tobring to the AD/DoE, strategic analysis, and supporting evidence, relating tothe performance of individual provisions, groups of learners, and subjectswithin designated area.
·
Toensure delivery of the Trust’s education strategy, working with DoE, AD, academyleadership teams, academy Local Support Boards (LSBs), CPD providers and ourHR, legal school improvement advisers.
·
Tobe responsible for ensuring Academy and its wider provisions adhere tosafeguarding policies and practices.
·
Tobe highly visible in The Fermain Academy and lead a high impact andaspirational culture fostering a mastery of teaching and learning.
·
Tobe based at The Fermain Academy and visit and work within all provisions underthe academies umbrella on a regular basis, monitoring and evaluatingperformance, providing support and challenge to other leaders under yourleadership

Tobe accountable for performance management within The Fermain Academy andassociated provisions, so building outstanding leadership capacity.
·
ToDevelop and deliver academy and provision development plans that are ambitious,sharply focussed on the key priorities, and regularly evaluated to ensurelearners excel.
·
Toreport to the AD/DoE on The Fermain Academy and associated provisions performance,highlighting any concerns or potential risks, what actions have been taken tomitigate the risks, and make recommendations for intervention where improvementis not rapid enough.
·
Toprepare The Fermain Academy and associated provisions for their Ofstedinspections and ensure self-evaluation is up-to-date, focussed and robust.
2. Education Quality and Compliance
·
Tobe relentless in the pursuit of high standards of learner attainment,achievement, attendance and behaviour.
·
Toidentify examples of best practice within schools and from outstanding externalproviders, to ensure best practice is shared and embedded across the academies
·
Tosupport Headteachers/ Heads of provisions and the LSBs in developing leadingedge practice in learning, teaching, and curriculum development.
·
Tolead workforce planning within The Fermain academy and associated provisions.
·
Toensure relevant compliance legislation is adhered to.
·
Towork with the central team and senior leaders to ensure premises and technologyat The Fermain Academy and all associated provisions meets the needs of any currentand future requirements
·
Tohold leaders under the Fermain umbrella to account
·
Toline manage Headteachers/senior leaders within designated area supporting themwith strategic decisions
·
Towork with the AD/DoE to support Headteachers and senior leaders on their professionalgrowth journeys
·
Tochallenge senior leaders around the strengths and weaknesses of their school toprepare them for OFSTED visits
3. Staffing
·
Tomonitor and evaluate the work of The Fermain Academy and all associatedprovisions and build their capacity to improve through the mentoring, coaching,professional development and performance management of all staff involved inthe support of our learners.
·
Toensure that Trust policies and procedures are applied consistently across allprovisions.
·
Toensure that our post-recruitment strategies such as induction, training and probationare rigorously implemented within designated area.
·
Toundertake observations of teaching and learning, engage with senior leaders inlearning walks and participate in work scrutiny to inform effective coachingand improved pedagogy.
·
Tomodel outstanding teaching and learning throughout the Fermain Academy andassociated provisions by developing and delivering expeditionary learningprogrammes.
·
Tosecure and sustain effective teaching and learning throughout the FermainAcademy and wider provisions by ensuring each Headteacher or SLT member has inplace sound strategies for monitoring and evaluating the quality of educationand standards of learners’ achievement.
·
Toensure, where underperformance is identified, that our procedures forsupporting staff are applied in a timely, rigorous and consistent manner.
·
Toensure a high standard of professional development for all staff and for selfby consistently delivering and modelling high quality CPD.
·
Toreview with SLT the collective outcomes of staff appraisals to develop a CPDprogramme appropriate to the needs of the staff and theacademy/provision/school improvement plan.
·
Toanalyse The Fermain Academy and wider provision performance, using data,professional judgement and leadership experience to identify areas forimprovement.
·
Tomonitor the impact of interventions and make adjustments as required.
·
Towork alongside leaders to review and refine approaches to the collection oflearner achievement data.
·
Tomake annual recommendations on staff pay progression and ensure that all staffare informed of decisions in a timely manner.
·
Towork collaboratively with senior leaders and external advisers to continuouslymonitor, review and develop The Fermain Academy and wider provision curriculumoffer to ensure that it is responsive to the needs of the learner population.
·
Toimplement and monitor the strategic development of the Trust’s outreachservices
·
Toidentify the root causes of underperformance.
·
Todevelop, in collaboration with the Headteacher/Head of School/SLT, achallenging and focused strategic improvement plan (post Ofsted inspectionplan).
·
Toundertake full leadership responsibility where a critical intervention may berequired in a school/provision in the short term.
