The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a leading institute for biological research. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to contribute to the smooth running of the Director’s Office and Scientific Operations function.
As a member of a small team, you will be the first point of contact for individuals, both internal and external, wishing to contact the LMB Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), routing enquiries as appropriate in an efficient and professional manner. You will also be responsible for helping with their diaries and travel arrangements. You will work with the Scientific Operations Manager to organise and support the full range of scientific meetings across the LMB including the LMB Seminar series given by eminent scientists from across the world. Please note that internally this role will be known as Director’s and Scientific Operations Assistant.
You should be educated to A level standard or equivalent with relevant work experience in an academic or public sector environment and an empathy for the scientific goals of the LMB. You will need to be highly organised and diligent. You should have excellent communication and time-management skills and will need to work with limited supervision. Experience of arranging and minuting meetings and making travel arrangements would be beneficial. This is a full-time post, although part-time hours (minimum 25 hours per week) would be considered and it is anticipated that you will be based in the office rather than home working.
We are committed to providing training and development opportunities including support towards role-related qualifications. Full training will be given and you will be able to participate in the LMB’s wide range of staff development opportunities.
