voluntary and community action in MiddlesbroughExecutive and administrative assistantAbout Refugee FuturesRefugee Futures supports people seeking asylum and refugees in Stockton on Tees. Over the next three years Refugee Futures aims to enable over 1,300 people to maximise their abilities and to flourish in Stockton on Tees. We deliver projects and work with other partners to offer welcome and orientation upon arrival and provide volunteering and training opportunities to be able to take part in a range of activities, connect and engage with local organisations and people and boost chances of getting a job once a person has permission to work.Established in 2021 the charity is in the early stages of building the foundations and capacity on which to deliver its strategy. We are in the process of recruiting two additional roles to help the team achieve our objectives. The Executive and Administrative Assistant and a Volunteer Project Coordinator will join the existing team which includes a full-time Business Development Manager, a full-time Welcome Project Lead, a part-time Executive Director, a freelance Financial Administrator, and a number of volunteers who have lived experience of the asylum system. The main purpose of the roleThis role has been developed to work closely with the Executive Director to ensure Refugee Futures is a well run organisation with an effective board of trustees and which lives up to its mission and values. The Executive and Administrative Assistant role will also enable the Executive Director to be more outward focused on strategic matters and partnership development. Organisational systems, policies and procedures have been put in place but now need sustained management and on going review. There is also the potential to create and support opportunities for refugees and people seeking asylum to volunteer in Refugee Futures to utilise their time and skills and to influence how we work.The right candidate will have: Proven organisational and logistical skills.Proven ability to manage professional relationships.Experience of recording and maintaining monitoring and evaluation information.Good understanding of commitment and ability to maintain a healthy, safe and confidential working environment and systems for assessing and managing risks and incidents. Confident in use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Office.Positive attitude, able to take the initiative to solve problems and work with minimal supervision.An effective team player with the ability to work creatively and flexibly with a diverse range of people and organisations and in a wide variety of situations.A good level of written and verbal English language skills.Responsible to: Executive DirectorHours: 3 days (22.5 hours) per week or minimum 16 hours for the right person. We are open to flexible working so hours could be spread over a number of days.Contract: Permanent following a 3-month probationary periodThe closing date for this job is 21 July 2023 - 9:00am.£28,350 pro rata (17,010 for 22.5 hours) plus pension schemeLocation:Catalyst House, Stockton on Tees Some remote working from home is possible within reason.
