Job Opportunity: Senior Operations Manager - Fixed Term Maternity Contract (12-13 months)

Role OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead the planning and execution of a major event energy event. This role will involve managing all core elements from conception through to completion, ensuring operational excellence and achieving
a strong return on investment (ROI). Additionally, the role may support other UK-based events as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety- Implement and monitor Health & Safety best practices throughout the event planning and onsite phases.- Prepare and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety documentation, including Risk Assessments and Emergency Evacuation Plans.
Project Management- Independently plan and manage the logistical and operational aspects of conferences and exhibitions.- Handle technical elements such as rigging, utilities, and stand plan approvals.- Lead projects involving catering, signage, feature areas, conferences, and sponsorship.- Conduct supplier selection and negotiation processes.- Prepare budgets, conduct feasibility studies, and ensure venue suitability.- Create and update floor plans and layout plans.- Produce exhibitor manuals and information sheets.- Coordinate onsite freight, traffic, and security requirements.- Manage ad hoc projects like evening functions or roadshows.
Budget Management- Prepare, manage, and monitor operational event budgets.- Utilise negotiation skills to secure favorable rates and terms.
Relationship Management- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.- Ensure effective communication with delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors.- Present event updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Admin/System Management- Manage Salesforce and operational processes, including event operations Critical Path Analyses.- Oversee processes impacting event floorplans and exhibitor lists.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- **Experience:** Minimum of 6-8 years in large international B2B conferences and exhibitions.- **Certifications:** Minimum IOSH Certification; First Aid knowledge/training is desirable.- **Skills:** - Detailed knowledge of large-scale operations and Health & Safety best practices.- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.- Ability to oversee/manage multiple projects.- Strong commercial awareness for managing event budgets.- Excellent networking and liaison skills with senior industry figures and diverse cultures.- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.- Knowledge of AutoCAD is helpful.
