Merrifield Consultants are delighted to partner with a leading Scientific Membership Organisation to recruit a dynamic and experienced Events Manager. This is a unique opportunity to join a renowned scientific society dedicated to promoting excellence in science for the benefit of humanity.

Position: Events Manager

Location: Hybrid, London (domestic travel required 1-2 times a month including overnight stays)

Hours: 35 hours per week (including some evening and weekend work)

Duration: FTC until the end of June 2024

Salary: �30,257 - �37,822/annum

About the Role:

As an Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of the scientific programme, a core strand of the Scientific Membership Organisation's work. Collaborating with the Senior Events Manager, you will lead on a portfolio of activities that bring together scientists for high-profile meetings, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the generation of innovative ideas.

Key Responsibilities: Events Manager

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of allocated events, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to setting plans, objectives, and timescales, adapting them as needed.
  • Ensure event plans allow for virtual or hybrid alternatives when necessary.
  • Resolve logistical and resource issues, escalating when required.
  • Manage onsite or online event delivery, ensuring staff are well-briefed.
  • Draft various written materials, including planning documents and reports.
  • Work with internal teams to manage catering and produce design assets.
  • Handle invitation and registration processes, maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Effectively manage event budgets, ensuring adherence to agreed parameters.
  • Acknowledge and thank contributors and participants as appropriate.
  • Facilitate post-event debriefs and implement lessons learned for future events.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and external partners.

Experience and Skills Requirements: Events Manager

  • Proven experience in delivering complex, high-profile events.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and expectations.
  • Experience in working with scientists or academics is advantageous.
