Events Coordinator ILIG
Who are we?
International Library and Information Group (ILIG) is a CILIP Special Interest Group (SIG) of librarians devoted to a shared special interest in global librarianship.
What do we do?
CILIP ILIG runs regular online and occasional face-to-face events about international librarianship best practice and networking.
Our Journal, Focus, is published electronically 2-3 per year, and has a proud 50+ year history.
We are always looking for contributions and articles (see the Focus page for more information).
Currently, we offer one bursary, the annual Alan Hopkinson (IFLA) Award, intended to help fund attendance at the annual IFLA Conference.
CILIP also entrust us to look after the triennial Anthony Thomson (UK) Award, but this UK library study tour award is currently under review and not offered – see our Awards/Bursaries page for more information.
We are looking for an Events Coordinator to join the committee. The role would include the following:
Coordinate suggestions for speakers and topics, and follow up contacts from committee members and others;
Schedule events throughout the year, avoiding clashes with other library events;
Liaise with speakers, arrange the date and time, agree a title and blurb;
Arrange publicity: post on the website, send to relevant mailing lists, arrange for social media posts;
Manage registrations, and liaise with the Treasurer over payments when appropriate;
For in person events: book the venue, order catering and any IT equipment, liaise with the venue, and be there on the day;
For virtual and hybrid events, manage the zoom sessions;
Arrange for evaluations when necessary and analyse the results.
Expressions of interest outlining relevant experience can be sent to ##### by 30th May.
