European Economist, Hedge Fund, London

Job DescriptionOur client, a leading global macro hedge fund, are seeking a European Economist to join their centralised Economics and Strategy Team based in London. This will be a holistic economist role utilising both your intellectual framework and your network (or ability to build one), and presents an opportunity to work closely with PMs and senior stakeholders in a dynamic environment, meaning that you'll gain exposure to live risk and play a key role in informing and influencing investment decisions. The role will provide excellent prospects for growth and development in a meritocratic and collaborative environment, as well career optionality and the opportunity to develop a buy-side career/move into a risk taking role.Key Responsibilities:Conduct in-depth analysis of European macroeconomic factors and market trends.Respond to ad hoc requests from PMs regarding economic data and events.Develop and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts and policymakers.Monitor and interpret ECB and other central bank meetings and communications, providing insights on potential future scenarios.Collaborate closely with PMs and other team members in investment decision-making processes.Requirements:Strong academic background in economics or related field; advanced degree preferred.3-5 years’ experience in economic research and analysis (although there is room for flexibility here dependant on the candidate), ideally within a prestigious financial institution.An understanding of European economies and financial markets.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex economic concepts to senior stakeholders.Ability to build and leverage professional networks, particularly within the sell-side and policy-world.Due to the nature of the position, we are advertising anonymously.
