The Company

Kingston Barnes is currently recruiting on behalf of a privately owned, regional building in Bristol, with an outstanding reputation. Due to an increasing workload, they’re now looking for an Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

The Job

Our client is looking for an estimator to successfully price single and multiple new build and refurbishment projects ranging from £250k- £10m. You’ll be a key part of the pre-con team working on estimating projects from negotiated, competitive tenders and framework-led opportunities.

As an Estimator you’ll be expected to be able to accurately price work from a Bill of Quantities and Schedules of Rates where tender documents are based on specifications and drawings.

On occasions, you will be required to attend client meetings and interview with the Directors being a part of the bid team.  

What’s Required

For you to be successful in this position you will have a minimum of 3 years experience pricing your own jobs ranging in value from £100k - £10m and be confident in your own ability. You will be competent in pricing, producing cost estimates, tender enquiries, and liaising with potential clients. This is a client-facing role and you will be required to meet with clients on a regular basis so it is important that you have good communication skills and a desire to represent the business face-to-face.

 The job will require you to be a quick-thinking and competitive individual. The ideal candidate will have great negotiation skills and a wide understanding of material, equipment and labour costs. You should have experience in competitively tendered work for a principal building contractor. You will have to be able to produce take offs by yourself and confident in your ability.
