Position: Experienced Estimator
Location: Milton Keynes
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather project requirements and specifications.
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
- Conduct thorough site visits and assessments to understand project scope, materials required, and potential challenges.
- Utilize estimating software and industry knowledge to calculate material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and tender documents, ensuring they meet client requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain a database of suppliers, subcontractors, and material prices to support accurate estimating.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
- Monitor project budgets and provide ongoing support to project teams to ensure cost control and profitability.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with specific experience in groundworks and civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately estimate project costs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ICE, CIOB) is advantageous.
