Construction Estimator

About Us: Our client a leading construction company specialising in commercial and residential schemes. With a track record of excellence and a commitment to quality, we have successfully completed numerous projects ranging from Devon to Dorset.

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects, from initial planning stages through to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and possess exceptional analytical and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assess existing conditions and gather relevant information.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Analyze project variables and develop cost models to determine project budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather input and ensure accuracy of estimates.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Present estimates to clients and stakeholders, explaining cost breakdowns and assumptions.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and provide regular updates to project teams.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials costs, and construction methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or ProEst.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in residential and commercial construction projects is a plus.
