Job Summary / Statement:
To ensure the continuity of all electrical, mechanical and building site services at both Hospital sites by the implementation of maintenance regimes which enable the Trust to demonstrate compliance with its statutory obligations and anticipate service failures allowing corrective action to be taken in advance.
To manage and oversee the performance of the in-house Estates Maintenance multiskilled workforce at both Hospital sites in regards to work orders being attended to and completed within the SLA allocated.
Undertake Authorised Person responsibilities, in line with Health Technical Memoranda, for relevant engineering elements.
Direct line management of the Estates Maintenance Supervisor - Hospital and Estates Maintenance Supervisor - Hospital.
Direct line management of the Estates Maintenance Engineer
Direct line management of the Estates Maintenance Administrator
To efficiently manage the Estates Maintenance budgets and control expenditure on stores and reactive maintenance which will be regularly reviewed by the Head of Estates Maintenance and Deputy Head of Maintenance.
Support/cover for the Estates Officer (Mechanical), Estates Officer (Electrical), and Estates Officer (Buildings) as and when required with specific tasks being designated/assigned which are acceptable to the level of competency of the post holder.
Cover for the Estates Maintenance Supervisor – both Hospitals and Estates Maintenance Supervisor - as and when need be.
Deputise for the Deputy Head of Estates Maintenance.
Person Specification:
HND/HNC in Engineering or Building related subjects, plus specialist knowledge acquired through.
City and Guilds Engineering qualification
Ordinary National Certificate or Equivalent in an Engineering discipline
(Electrical/Mechanical)
Building & Engineering services knowledge. Good organisational skills, computer literate. Must be reliable hard working and dedicated.
Ability to organise motivate and manage a multi-skilled workforce
Ability to organise and manage external contractors
Ability to review and analyse performance data to create an action plan for improvement.
Ability to understand budgets and budget management.
Ability to carry out audits and spot checks to analyse and assess the quality of maintenance works.
Ability to work to drawings and specifications
Good communication skills
IT and literary skills
A professional and logical approach to problem solving
Able to produce information and reports to a professional standard
Experience in management of Supervisors, Administrators and multiskilled trade staff.
Good working knowledge of engineering within the Hospital environment.
Control and motivate staff. Self-motivated. The ability to work under pressure. Total commitment to professionalism.
To be able to deliver meetings to large groups (e.g. Toolbox Talk Meetings/Workshop Meetings)
To be a good team leader and ambassador for the department
Be able to liaise will all levels of management in the organisation when dealing with maintenance issues
Able to start work earlier or finish later on occasions
Have a flexible and can do approach
