They strive for excellence in diagnosis and treatment of all horses, whether they are a child's pony or an elite sports horse. They are a first opinion equine practice serving Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire from a fully-equipped, purpose-built equine hospital that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.They are fully-equipped with the knowledge and experience to a provide a cost-effective route to recovery. Their operating theatre is located in the centre of the clinic and is flanked by a padded anaesthetic induction box, with a similarly padded recovery box at the opposite end. This facility is kept sterile and ready for use at all times. Patients under anaesthesia are monitored using an ECG and arterial blood pressure transducers, and arterial blood gases are regularly checked to ensure the highest standard of care.They can perform all categories of equine surgery including arthroscopy to treat joint conditions ranging from OCD lesions, chip fractures to septic joint flushes following penetrating wounds and the all-too-common black thorn injuries. Abdominal surgeries are often carried out to treat colic but also to remove ovaries or abdominal testicles (rig surgery). Upper airway surgery makes up a good percentage of their caseload. Some of these procedures can be done in the standing horse and these are done with the horse sedated and usually confined in their stocks.They also have a designated laboratory where they can perform a range of tests to aid in the rapid, effective treatment of their patients, as well as a state-of-the-art microscope in their lab which is in constant use to analyse various tissue samples. The stables are immaculate; they use paper bedding on rubber matting, boxes are emptied, power washed and disinfected between patients and horses cannot touch each other.
