Organisation Information: Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion. Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete. An opportunity has arisen for a temporary position as an Environmental Manager on our Hinkley Point C Project in Somerset. The position would be a fixed term for a maximum of 16 months (March 2024 – September 2025) covering a period of parental leave. The position offers the following experience and opportunities:
Working as part of a dynamic Joint Venture between Laing O’Rourke and Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) on the main civils engineering works at the Hinkley Point C project worth over £2.8 billion.
Experience in the Nuclear Sector working alongside a number of large Tier 1 Contractors with great networking opportunities.
Leading a team of four dedicated Environment and Sustainability professionals.
Working towards the projects ambition of helping Britain Achieve Net Zero.
Working on a highly unique and diverse construction project.
Key responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with the Environment and Sustainability requirements of the contract and legal requirements.
Main point of contact for Environment and Sustainability related matters.
Maintaining the established Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensuring compliance and continual improvement through lessons learnt.
Effectively communicating key Environment and Sustainability risks to our senior leadership and collaboratively finding solutions.
Accountability for the development and delivery of the Environmental Strategies and Policies.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
UK regulatory framework.
Detailed understanding of the requirements of ISO 14001.
Sustainable development principles and practices.
Management of Environmental Management System.
Experience developing and implementing environmental policies and strategies.
Strong communicator.
Team builder/facilitator.
Experience of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships within a project environment.
Education & Qualifications: Degree in Environmental Management or relevant technical/scientific degree (or equivalent).
Additional Information: All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance. Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
