I am currently representing Merton Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of �27.90 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.





We are looking for an Environmental Health Technician this role will be: SM18 2PU





The right candidate will:






  • An opportunity has arisen for a keen and enthusiastic Environmental Health technician to join the Noise & Nuisance Team in the Regulatory Services Partnership on a temporary basis.

  • In order to be considered you must have extensive knowledge and experience of responding to statutory nuisance complaints under Environmental Protection 1990 and dealing with construction sites under the Control of Pollution Act 1974. You will be expected to investigate noise complaints and report back to senior officers so that decisions can be made by senior officers regarding taking any formal action. You will also investigate other complaints such as those relating to bonfires and light pollution.

  • To lead on key projects on behalf of the Noise & Nuisance Manager and/or wider Regulatory Services Partnership management team.

  • To contribute to meeting the service priorities, deliver against performance targets and outcome measures, monitor their own performance and those of less experienced officers, providing regular reports on progress to their line manager and ensuring that objectives are met within agreed timescales.



We require the following:






  • You must have excellent communication and customer care skills, the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • The ability to work well as part of a team as well as on your own initiative is essential.

  • This is a demanding role, and the successful candidate will be well organised and able to work flexibly.

  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.

  • The post is based in our London borough of Wandsworth office (The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU). The officer will be expected to work a 7-week shift pattern consisting of day shifts and out of hours shifts from Thursday to Sunday. The officer will work approximately 35 hours per week and will work with a second officer out of hours up until the times stated below.

  • The individual is required to have a full UK driving licence and will drive a council car as part of the role. They are not expected to supply their own vehicle.
