We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring strict adherence to environmental requirements from clients and regulatory authorities. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, providing valuable guidance on pollution prevention and mitigation measures throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit project environment deliverables, including monthly reports, in accordance with contractual requirements.
Conduct environmental risk evaluations and communicate findings to project teams and subcontractors.
Provide technical support on environmental mitigation and compliance, ensuring adherence to contractual and regulatory obligations.
Offer technical input on bid/subcontract evaluations pertaining to environmental services and other relevant subcontract works with potential environmental impacts.
Coordinate with marine mammal observers and other discipline leads to address project environmental requirements.
Analyze project environmental performance and report findings to clients, Project Management Teams (PMTs), and Group/Business Line QHSE as necessary.
Conduct Environmental Management System audits, evaluate compliance, and perform environmental inspections at SEB/Subcontractor sites as directed by the Project Quality team.
Participate in Lesson Learned sessions, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and environmental incident investigations as required.
Facilitate communication between subcontractors, PMTs, and clients on environmental matters throughout project operations.
Conduct training sessions on environmental risk assessment processes and regulatory requirements for project teams.
Plan and organize project environmental awareness initiatives and relevant community/Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs as needed.
Ensure communication of SEB environmental commitments and procedures to the project team.
Review and comprehend client-prepared Environmental, Social, Health, and Impact Assessment (ESHIA) reports, including identified impacts, mitigation measures, and monitoring programs.
Develop detailed implementation plans for ESHIA, outlining timelines, resource allocation, and responsibilities for each mitigation measure.
Integrate ESHIA requirements into project planning, scheduling, and budgeting processes.
Lead and coordinate the project team in implementing ESHIA mitigation measures.
Oversee the implementation of monitoring programs specified in the ESHIA, ensuring adherence to data collection, analysis, and reporting procedures.
Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with environmental permits and ESHIA commitments.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify the effectiveness of mitigation measures and identify potential issues.
Prepare reports documenting ESHIA implementation, including mitigation measures undertaken, monitoring results, and corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding ESHIA implementation progress and any environmental concerns.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in ESHIA implementation practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications/Certifications:
Relevant bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor certification.
Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and best practices in mitigation and monitoring.
Proven experience in leading and coordinating environmental teams.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Proficient in project management methodologies and environmental data analysis.
