Our client is a global manufacturer of Petrochemicals, with a core product range in acetic acid and acetic anhydride. Due to continued growth of the business, they are now looking to recruit an Environmental Engineer with a main focus in compliance, with environmental legislation and health and safety legislation whilst actively promoting environmental good practice.� The Environmental Engineer is subject matter expert for environmental matters onsite and is part of the SHE team that upholds the values of the safety, health and environmental policy approved by the board.


Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental management programme and the environmental management system.
  • Subject matter expert for environmental legislation and environmental standards.
  • Support assurance processes and self-verification systems on site.
  • Manage waste minimisation plan
  • Manage the greenhouse gas emissions permit under the environmental trading scheme (ETS) and coordinate the relevant information for verification.
  • Responsible for the relevant areas coordination for ISO-#####
  • Responsible for ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and lead for internal environmental audits. Duty includes reporting and updating the BSI Auditor of any EA notifications.
  • Responsible for developing the environmental strategy & the forward agenda for sustaining environmental performance.
  • Champion environmental improvements via the Asset plan and Capex programs.
  • Assist in the creation and management of the Carbon Plan for the business.
  • Lead greenhouse gas emissions and energy management for the site.
  • Manage the site environmental permit and prepare any correspondence to the regulator or applications for variations that may be required and reporting of any permit breaches.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Candidates will ideally hold a degree in environmental management / chemical engineering or similar with essential experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical business.
  • A minimum of 2 years in an oil, gas or petrochemical business
  • Experience in environmental or operations management.
  • Working knowledge of key environmental legislation.
  • Experience of working with the UK Environment Agency
  • Auditing experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic health, safety, security and crisis and continuity management legislation.
  • Technical skills: Environmental abatement techniques. Environmental risk assessment. Environmental and social impact assessment. Water and wastewater management. Air emission sampling and monitoring.
