Have you got what it takes to succeed The following information should be read carefully by all candidates.
A leading international and multidisciplinary consulting firm with offices in London and throughout the Middle East and Africa, is seeking to recruit a highly experienced and talented ESIA consultant with specialist ecological impact skills to work in its London design office. Dar is dedicated to planning, designing, engineering, and managing infrastructure projects, and Dar Group further contributes to the sustainable development of communities worldwide.
The right candidate will join an established team of environmental specialists based in London. The individual will be expected to lead tasks and support project managers across the Company in the management of environmental and social issues across a wide range of very large infrastructure projects, in particular within the planning and urban design, and transport sectors, internationally and within the UK. The individual must be able to demonstrate technical expertise, and will be required to deliver project requirements within budget and on time.
International experience is especially desirable, particularly in developing countries (e.g. on the African continent). Any experience of working within the environmental and social safeguard requirements of international finance (WB/IFC, EIB, AfDB, etc) will be valued.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with proven oral and written communication and management skills.
THE ROLE
Key accountabilities:
· Providing support on planning, ESIA/EIA, ESMS, SEA projects and be responsible for the delivery of project tasks to satisfy client requirements.
· Assessment of very large infrastructure projects and programmes.
· Experience in ecological impact assessment and management is especially desirable.
· Management of specialist sub-consultants.
· Leading tasks and co-ordinating a wide range of studies.
· Supporting business development activities including proposal writing, project budget estimation, development of client relationships and pursuit of opportunities.
· A confident, positive individual, interacting with clients through meetings and presentations.
· Supervising, managing and mentoring of junior staff, including outside the Environment team - urban planners, and interns.
International travel will be required, typically for 1-3 weeks at a time.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
· At least 5-8 years of relevant work experience in ESIA / EIA (good understanding of the Ecological component is preferable).
· Experience working in a multi-disciplinary consultancy.
· Strong report writing skills, with the ability to write clear and concise reports.
· Good knowledge and experience on international environmental and social safeguard standards (IFC, WB, EBRD, AfDB)
· Excellent presentation skills, written and verbal communication, initiative, motivation and a team player.
· Good IT skills in commonly used software.
· Experience working internationally, especially Africa and the Middle East would be an advantage.
Desirable
Knowledge of UK EIA legislation and the UK planning system is desirable.
Additional language skill (Portuguese (preferable), French, Spanish,).
Chartered member of relevant professional institution (IEMA, IES, CIEEM, CIWEM).
Air quality / Noise assessment / Water Resources / GIS skills.
REMUNERATION:
Basic monthly salary negotiable in accordance with relevant experience.
Non-contributory pension scheme with 10% to 16% Company’s contribution.
Salary uplift while working overseas (35%).
Per diem payments while working overseas.
