Job DescriptionFortis is a leading producer of IBAA (Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate), producing a sustainable aggregate which has been widely used in construction for over 20 years. Fortis currently has four IBA (incinerator Bottom Ash) processing facilities that operate under The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 To support our rapid growth and continual compliance, we are seeking to appoint an Environmental Compliance Manager to assume full responsibility for ensuring that all Fortis companies comply with all relevant laws, regulations, company policies and Environmental permit conditions and procedures. The role offers flexible working and an excellent remuneration package.Reporting to the Chairman, the successful applicant will be required to:Provide a proactive approach to environmental compliance, focussing on all applicable environmental regulations, laws, site permits and requirements across the company’s operations in Kent, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.Develop, implement, and update environmental compliance plans in accordance with prevailing legislation, organisational policies and procedures.Identify areas of non-compliance and develop strategies to rectify them.Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local communities.Lead environmental audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.Provide advice and assistance to operational teams on environmental compliance matters.Manage and coordinate waste management programs, including waste classification.Prepare monthly environmental board reports on environmental compliance.Investigate and respond to complaints of non-compliance.Candidate requirements:Knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations, laws and standards applicable to the organisation.Ability to identify and analyse environmental compliance issues.Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain environmental procedures and systems.Ability to develop, review and interpret technical reports.Knowledge of non-hazardous and hazardous waste management legislation and procedures.Proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office.Relevant environmental degree with at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant field including the environment and waste sectors.
