OBM is currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor for our ASCO Teesworks based in Teesside, Middlesbrough.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the General Manager - Teesworks. The Environmental Advisor will be responsible to monitor and proactively manage the environmental impact of a quayside operations contract; championing good practice and promoting sustainable practices. Duties include (but not limited to):
Roles and Responsibilties
* Adherence to our ASCO's obsessions in safety and service delivery excellence and sustainability.
* Manage and conduct regular safety tours of facilities where the teams are involved with their activities.
* Being responsible for assessing environmental impacts of the operation and providing advice to management
* Environmental focal point with stakeholders such as the client, fellow colleagues and local residents.
* Responsible for auditing, analysing and reporting environmental performance to internal stakeholders.
* Monitor corporate compliance with applicable legislation, keeping up to date with UK, EU and international regulations concerning the environment.
* Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans ensuring corporate sustainable development.
* Complete detailed reports ensuring an environmental action plan is in place.
* Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management and recycling.
* Coordinate public hearings and consultation on environmental matters.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
* Previous operational environmental experience.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent planning and organising skills.
* Industry awareness of existing and developing best practice.
* Demonstratable capability to deal with management in customer organisations.
* Maintains positive work relationships.
* Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and internal/external customer support.
* Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
* Ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team.
* Computer literate with operator knowledge across the Microsoft suite.
* Effective communicator and proactive work approach
Minimum Qualifications
* NEBOSH cert in Environmental Management
* Degree/HND in Environmental Science or equivalent
* IOSH Managing Safely
