Due to a sustained period of continued growth, OCU Group now have an urgent requirement for an experienced Environmental Advisor to work on a once in a generation major water project across Cheshire and Merseyside ensuring the supply of clean and safe drinking water for decades to come.With wide ranging environmental and community interfaces across the area this role would suit a proactive self-starting individual who embraces challenges and has a desire to make a positive change. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure OCU Group environmental policies and processes and statutory requirements are understood and practically implemented on the project. Work with the project team to develop, manage, implement, and monitor the Environmental Management Plan. Assist in the identification, application and implementation of required environmental consents, permits and exemptions such as discharge consents, abstraction licenses and environmental permits. Ensure assurance processes are in place to monitor compliance with these permits including recorded sampling, visits, inspection and audits where required of operational sites. Collaborate with the project team, client, designer and ecologist to deliver no biodiversity net loss with an aim to achieve net gain. Provide guidance on the preparation of environmental work risk assessments and method statements. Provide practical specialist environmental advice to the project team, client and wider stakeholders (as necessary) on environmental good practice including, waste management, pollution prevention and control and incident response management. Establish, manage, and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, Environment Agency, Natural England and Forestry England. Lead on the collation of data for environmental KPI's such as waste, water, energy and carbon including any client specific measures and put in place plans to meet objectives and targets. Undertake monitoring and analysis of environmental performance. Utilise data to highlight areas of further consideration, evaluation, and intervention. Share industry good practice and innovation with the project team and client to improvement environmental performance on the project. Capture and promote environmental best practice and ensure it is fed back to the client, project team and wider OCU Group. Lead / support the investigation of environmental incidents and near misses. Prepare and deliver environmental training such as toolbox talks and spill response to upskill the operational teams. Work with the wider Sustainability & Environmental team to continually improve OCU Group environmental performance by sharing learning and good practice. Skills and Experience A relevant degree or equivalent (NVQ level 5). PIEMA or equivalent. Strong understanding of environmental legislation and its implementation within the infrastructure sector. Strong previous experience of leading environmental management on large scale projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational and time management skills. Be able to work on own initiative with a ‘can do’ approach. Be able to thrive in a fast paced and changing environment. Be flexible and dynamic to adapt to the contract and client needs. Driving Licence.
