The ones that enable our growth.We now have an exciting opportunity for an Environment Manager to join our Sustainability team at our Support Centre in Swindon.The main purpose of an Environment Manager is to lead in all aspects of Scope 3 GHG emissions data management and reporting on climate change.We are committed to managing the environmental impacts of our operations and the products we sell. We’re aiming to be a more sustainable business.What you will be doing Managing the input from external specialists to calculate and improve data quality for carbon footprints associated with our products, including Scope 3 Category 1 Purchased Goods and Services, Category 4 Transport and Distribution, Category 11 Use of Sold Products and Category 12 Disposal of Sold ProductsWorking closely with our commercial teams to lead our engagement activities with suppliers and business partners to deliver progress towards our Scope 3 targets, including carbon reduction, packaging and deforestationLeading the collation of product-related information for demonstration of deforestation free sourcingSupporting the Sustainability Director in the development and delivery of WHSmith’s group climate change and nature commitments, programmes and policies (e.g. GHG emissions targets, climate transition planning, forest positive agenda)Supporting the delivery of climate and nature-related disclosures, including TCFD, Climate Transition Plan, and any forthcoming nature-related disclosures (e.g. TNFD).Supporting the climate and nature risk management process, including working with others on scenario modelling and risk reporting processesWhat we are looking for Technical knowledge and experience of carbon accounting and modelling, emissions calculations, including knowledge of the GHG protocol.Experience working on climate change and nature agendas in a corporate or consultancy setting.Knowledge of calculation methods for scope 3 emissions, and experience working towards emissions-reduction KPIs.Experienced in working with data and comfortable using excel spreadsheets as well as online data capture tools.Knowledge of certification schemes and industry standards such as FSC, PEFC, EUDR regs, TNFD, SBTN a bonus.How we reward our teamsworking model from home and in the officeFriday finishWorkingdays holiday, plus your Birthday off, plus Bank Holidays with an opportunity to buy extra days holidayfriendly leavepension schemeSchemeBonus based on company and Personal Performancesalarydiscount card for stores and onlineAbout usCelebrating 230 years, we’re proud to have grown and evolved into a globally recognised brand present in over 30 countries around the world, and we’re proud to be that air of familiarity people love and trust on their journey, both in life and through life.
