Overview
Everest People Solutions are recruiting for an HSE Manager who will be tasked with overseeing Health, Safety, and Environmental management at the site, covering production processes, communications, training, and monitoring systems. The HSE Manager role involves establishing and nurturing a culture of Safety and Environmental awareness through audits, KPI reporting, and regular reviews with the Site team. Additionally, the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager will be responsible for implementing and monitoring environmental strategies for legal compliance, MCERTS, and NRW regulations, as well as reducing key environmental impacts. They resolve environmental issues and drive necessary changes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities for the HSE Manager
Coordinate development and regular review of Health and Safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Ensure statutory obligations regarding health, safety, and welfare at work are met, including training and reporting. Conduct and review risk assessments, accidents documentation, and safety inspections. Maintain accurate health and safety records and provide regular KPI reports. Manage provisions for first aid, welfare facilities, emergency procedures, and protective equipment. Lead H&S visits/audits and represent the company in insurance claims. Support team in maintaining food safety, legality, and integrity. Ensure compliance with personal hygiene requirements. Establish a structured health and safety training program. Develop, train, and motivate the site team. Work on wellbeing initiatives with occupational health and HR. Foster a culture of safety and teamwork. Uphold company values and promote employee engagement. Improve communication within and between departments. Drive Health and Safety standards across the site, reporting incidents and ensuring proper equipment usage. Lead initiatives to reduce accidents and manage all health and safety issues. Assist in implementing continuous improvement techniques for operational excellence. Create, implement, and monitor environmental strategies and procedures. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and permit conditions. Establish Emergency Management Systems and negotiate environmental service agreements. Uphold Bird Welfare standards and fulfill any reasonable duties requested within the role.
Requirements for the HSE Manager
Essential:
Leadership experience in H&S and Environmental functions.
HSE qualifications including NEBOSH General and Environmental Certificates, and COSHH training.
Proficient in formulating, implementing, and revising H&S and Environmental policies.
Comprehensive knowledge of HSE and environmental legislation.
Demonstrated ability to lead H&S/Env. projects.
Computer skills in Word and Excel for data management.
Capable of both team collaboration and independent initiative.
Effective under pressure, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Flexible, cooperative, and detail oriented.
Strong organisational skills for process implementation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion.
Proactive problem-solving ability.
Skilled in negotiation and organisation.
Demonstrates commercial awareness and business understanding.
Self-motivated with the ability to motivate staff at all levels.
Desirable:
NEBOSH Diploma.
Membership of IOSH.
Diploma-level qualification in Environmental Management.
WABITABB or IEMA qualification.
Previous experience in Food Manufacturing, preferably FMCG.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement techniques.
Previous experience in managing small teams.
